What do you mean newest engine out there? I thought you only used Box2D, the rest you scripted yourself.
Also it seems you've been drawing a lot of these.. raster graphics backgrounds.
Amazing work.
box2d is only responsible for the rigid body physics and raycasting. the rest is all my work with the most important feature in skeletal animations, particle effects with full collisions, destructible objects and many more.
You could also use dynamic lighting engine. All it needs is Multiply blend mode for images, Additive blend mode for light sources. Erase blend mode for shadows in light sources.
It will make your game much more atmospheric. But backgrounds are problem, since they're unaffected by lighting. Then a mask could be used
@kknots like plazmaburst did? it would look nice, but it would make it laggy as hell
I hope you're not having a hard time finding sponsors, I'm really antsy for this to come out.
i actually do, tons of pure shovelware shit gets sponsored, and they 'look for something different' or 'don't have the budget'. i'm really pissed, if nothing comes up by july i'm publishing it by myself with some kind of ads so the wait will be over my friends.
