I like how it looks, but the landscape doesn't seem like it'll be very linear.
As for the skeletal animation system, have you checked out Plazma Burst 2? Although it may not have actually built in "skeletons" per say, as I'm sure you have, the way it's done is quite similar.

the maps are arenas with multiple routes. i played plazma burst a long time ago and always wanted to play part 2 but my windows was fucked and coudnt start it. now i found it. damn it's nice. he's got a great mp component, now i now that i can make it too. his system is more physics based - very nice. that's why i wrote "probably" - i looked at a lot of games and sites but no one was using it, there are 2 demos i can find, no source. maybe someone did it before me :)

hmm so you don't like them? i made them to be realistic, smoke and lots of physics based particles, some animated fire - they look gorgeous in 60 fps to me. u can always say what you would like to see. damn why can't i pm you:P
This game has a few actions that are similar to the popular game "Raze." Yes multiplayer would be awesome! but like you said....It's a game work in progress.
But at least this game has some physic attributes added so that maximum enjoyment will be at the player's hands!

considering that i worked almost a year on this game (with many long pauses cuz of school/life/laziness) i won't add mp now. but i will make a multiplayer intruder game :)
This looks amazing! you sir are a game physics masta! I can not wait to give this ago. I do agree with Luis though, the explosions lack that impact. though that might be because the action is slowed down and there isnt enough animation frames within the flames to accommodate it.
aside from that, this is gonna be killer
hm i get the point. your feelings might be mostly caused by the terrible quality and low recording fps in full speed the explosions are really powerful and fluid. slow mo sections are at 20% speed

This has to be the best side scrolling shooter I've ever seen. The only bad part is that my computer won't be able to run it.
if you have a dual core cpu it will run well. im also gonna include a lot of advanced settings so you can enjoy it but without the best parts:/

well madness is madness so it's more popular and more recognizable. i played it and it's really cool and high quality work but technically it's nowhere close to combat training. everything in my game is more fun. and i'm sure it will be more fun for you too guys. it's coming.
lol dual core, are you kidding me? My piece of shit has a fucking Pentium 4 processor.
even my phone is dual core:P if it's 4ghz it might handle it.
time to upgrade my friend - dual core is a very old technology.
I know it doesn't have the revolutionary physics work Combat Training will have, but physics aren't the only thing that makes a game good. Project Nexus is still a very well put together game, and right now it's out in the open which one will be the most entertaining, or if they will be on the same level of greatness.
as i said i think that Project Nexus is awesome, it's a different kind of game and i won't be surprised if it's more popular and more praised than mine. they shouldn't be even compared to each other so i'm surprised that you were asking for it. anyway it pretty much depends on what you look in a game, it does the series justice, it's fun and has some really cool ideas but the shooting itself and killing doodz is only ok - their strength is masses. i played a few levels and then i tried my own take on madness and pure killing is much more fun for me thx to the gore and physics. i agree that physics themselves don't make a game good but in this type of game all the gameplay itself is built around the tech: you've got amazing and super smooth animations, good gfx, demanding shooting mechanics that really change the way you play and rewarding feedback for your actions - particle effects, death animations and ragdolls, environment gets destroyed,enemies are more challenging and the game itself feels like it's much more than just a flash game. you'll all see very soon.
